Ixquick SEO Information

Ixquick was founded in 1998 by David Bodnick (Bodnick is currently Ixquick’s lead “Technologist”). The company is owned by Surfboard Holding BV, which acquired the engine in 2000. Ixquick is based out of New York and the Netherlands, and has provided over 120 million searches since 2004.

Ixquick is a meta search engine that gathers its results from Teoma, Entireweb, Gigablast, Go, LookSmart, Netscape, ixdmoz, goto, Wisenut and Yahoo! At the main page, users have the option of selecting which of these engines and directories to search from.

Ixquick offers more than just a standard search interface. Users can choose to search under a number of options, which include: Web, International Phone Directory, Lowest Price, and Pictures. International Phone Directory provides listings world wide, while Lowest Price is a product search comparison feature.

All search options are available in a number of different languages, including, but not limited to, English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean (17 languages in total).

Ixquick uses a comparative analysis algorithm with the search engines to determine how to rank its own results on a star rating system. For example, one star is rewarded for every search engine that places a result in the top 10 of its search engine results page, or SERP. Five stars means that five search engines have placed a particular site within their top 10. Furthermore, users can refine the relevancy of results with the ‘Exclude Results Seen Before’ feature. This lets searchers remove or add results to future searches on the same subjects.

Inxquick’s power search page supports the advanced search features of all the search engines it accesses. Since different engines use different rules for their advanced searches, Ixquick will identify the type of advanced command entered by the user, and only fetch results from the engines that use that same advanced search command.
