Web Site Analysis

Metamend’s Search Engine Optimization service begins with a detailed analysis of your web site. The following is a short summary of the process involved. The SEO service:

1. Contextually reads your web site
Our proprietary tool, the metamengine, visits your web site, and contextually reads the content you have created. When it comes across words with multiple meanings, it checks against the other terms on the page to determine which is contextually correct. For example, if it comes across the term “jumper” it will determine whether the term refers to a) a sweater; b) athletics; c) a sky-diver; d) a jolly-jumper children’s toy. The service then objectively reads the entire text to determine what is it about, and what is the core message that the web site is trying to convey. The service looks at the web site objectively, as if it knows nothing about the content on the page, and analyzes it. It does this more thoroughly than a search engine ever could when reading your content, and it reports on what it finds.

2. Extracts the essentials

Once the service has objectively read and determined which terms on the page and within the web site are the most relevant, it extracts these terms from the page, and starts building a database of terms relating to the web site. Not only does it extract the textual content from your web site, it also extracts relevant search terms and patterns from both internal and external search engine data.

3. Performs Database analysis

The terms that are now in the database are analyzed again. They are run through innumerable algorithms. The Metamend Search Engine Optimization Service analyzes these terms, and examines other real world data to see how the term, and it’s related terms, are used in real world conditions. Let’s look at the term jumper once again. Imagine it was about sweaters. The Metamend Service would have determined that, and checked the usage patterns around the terms Jumper, Sweater, Pull-over, Cardigan, Vest, Argyle, Wool, Cashmere, etc… All in relation to the web site at hand. Are these terms relevant, and are they part of the real world usage patterns that your customers are likely to use? The database is expanded by adding in all of the most relevant of the real world terms.

4. Performs Database Verification

The database that the Service has created for the web site is re-checked against the content of the site, and also against natural language patterns; what other words are commonly used in conjunction with the most relevant terms, and whether or not they are applicable here. If they are, they are added to the database.

This is what the analysis of your web site entails, in brief. This analysis is performed every time a mend is performed on your web site. It mimics the steps that a search engine would perform, and then it goes much deeper, and more thoroughly through the content and terminology. A search engine will, at best, only perform the first two steps. Much like a search engine, our service depends on the web site operator for content. If there is no content whatsoever, that will be a problem for our service. If however, you have textual content, or have supplemented it with alt tags, and other such devices, our service will find it, although a search engine might not.
